US corporates with exposure to the UK have been taking positions to mitigate the risk of Scotland voting for independence in contrast to their UK counterparts, which have so far taken few steps to protect themselves and are sticking to monitoring the situation.

Financial markets have until recent weeks shrugged off the currency risks posed by a Yes vote, which would allow Scotland to form an independent state, but concern over the implications of such an outcome has picked up since opinion polls
