Well, that was a bit exhausting, wasn't it? The past 12 months occasionally seemed what I imagine it feels like to be a participant on The X Factor, bearing in mind they always describe the experience as a rollercoaster journey.

Things started off calmly enough, with foreign exchange market participants waiting for the long-awaited policy divergence and its consequences to ramp up activity in the market. And they waited some more. Then, when it felt almost certain that 2016 would be a limp year
